Product Description Includes 36V Cordless 14-in String Trimmer - NST2036R, 36V Battery, 36V Battery Charger, Shoulder Strap
Amazon.com Product Description The first trimmer in its class to receive the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star certification for its charging system, this efficient and environmentally friendly model from Black & Decker trims mowed areas on most 1/2-acre homesites, and is great for heavy-duty weed clearing and cutting. Powered by a longlasting 36-volt NiCad battery for robust performance that rivals gas, but without the mess and hassle, the NST2036 boasts a 14-inch cut path and speeds up to 7,500 RPM. In fact, it cuts more area per charge than any other cordless trimmer currently on the market, and yields impressive results even around tough areas like against fences, near gutter drains, or the perimeter of trees with large root bases. It's also very easy to operate, thanks to a host of helpful features like dual .080-inch lines for long life, a patented gear drive for the right amount of torque to handle thick, bushy grass and brush, and a variable speed trigger for optimum control. For additional comfort and stability, you can adjust the auxiliary handle to your height, and the telescoping shaft can also be extended to access whatever you're cutting. Finally, a bump feed system feeds the line on demand, and a shoulder strap helps ensure even distribution of weight. The NST2036 comes with a three-year warranty.

Great but must not use like a gas trimmer August 20, 2010 JD 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this trimmer, but if the owner is used to a gas trimmer some adjustment must be made. First gas trimmers have a clutch so when its idling the string does not spin. What this means is you must rev it up pretty good to cut even the smallest blade of grass. So most people just set the gas trimmer at max speed and just start walking around mowing down anything in your way. From other reviews for this product it appears that can harm this trimmer, but being electric that is not necessary at all. Just increase the speed just enough to cut thru what your trimming. Hating my old gas weed trimmers (some had trouble starting, others wrapped tall weeds around trimmer head and had to be untangled every few minutes) I skipped my trimming till it absolutely had to be done. This trimmer at max speed(only need max for short bursts) was able to take on the worst weeds that some gas trimmers have trouble with. It was also a pleasure to learn that this trimmer does not have any problem with tall weeds wrapping around the shaft. Now that my trimming is caught up(I no longer skip the trimming due to it being a lot less hassle then it used to be) my yard looks better and I rarely have to use full speed on the trimmer at all. I have no problem trimming my yard on one charge (even the first time) probably due to only using the speed needed to cut the weeds. The only drawbacks I can think of are its heavy(shoulder strap helps a lot), you must adjust if your used to using full speed all the time, and it takes like 12 hours to charge the battery so you cant really use it unless you plan ahead a little or just keep the battery charged. To counter the drawbacks there is no fuel buying and mixing and storing, no starting, and no weed wrapping the head(admitingly only some gas trimmers have this problem).
Freaking Fun! August 13, 2010 Aaron B. Propst (the internet) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the best trimmer I've ever had. It has as much or more power than the smoking leaky 2 cycle thing I replaced, but it is instant on and off! You can run all over your yard just firing it up, devastating the weedey landscape, then cut it off to walk across your yard to the next victim..
With my gas trimmer I'd spend a half hour trying to get it to run right, then i'd haul it all over the yard trying to get everything done before it conked out or choked to death on the weeds and quit.
This trimmer was cutting down huge weed stalks in my back yard that were probably half an inch across.. (wet, hollow stalks mind you.. but still more than my last trimmer would do.)
So far, So good. This is a serious piece of hardware. (It's also quite an upper body workout ;)
expensive for 20 minutes of use. August 5, 2010 jerry used it twice, very expensive for 20 minutes of battery power, extra battery is another $100.00, not worth the investment.
NST2036 CORDLESS TRIMMER August 4, 2010 Letusgogreen My trimmer arrived right on time....Charged battery overnight...Used next day...I have small yard, and a lot of woods area around house...Used for it all and it performed fantastic...Was a little heavy at first, but about the same as gas trimmer...shoulderstrap helps a lot...I really, really like this trimmer...My wife and I are very concerned about our environment, and using this bettery powered unit really fits the bill for us...I would recommend this trimmer to anyone who wants quality and to break away from the hassle of gas trimmers...Thanks black and Decker for making this, and thanks Amazon for getting it to me on time and in perfect condition...
Worst Experience With a Product July 24, 2010 Joe This has been the worst experience I have had with any product PERIOD. The only reason I didn't score this product 1 star is that it was exactly what I needed when it worked properly.
First, the weed eater failed with a puff of smoke and a whimper after only 4 uses. I sent it back to Black and Decker to get it repaired and had to wait a few weeks to get it back. After I got it back it worked fine for another 8 months or so.
Then the battery started to decline until I couldn't even get half my yard trimmed before I had to put it on the charger for another 8 hours. I paid $300 for this thing when it was new and to get a NiCad battery in such an expensive product in this day and age is unbelievable.
When the string ran out, re-stringing the thing was a nightmare. It's almost impossible to get it to advance unless you string it absolutely perfectly. The design is terrible because I've had trimmers before where re-stringing was not a problem.
Shortly after re-stringing for the first time the string advance mechanism broke. It's only 10 bucks to get a new one but at this point I've just about had it with this thing.
