German engineering. You would be hard pressed to find a better engineered hand-tool. These are pricey, but, much better than cheap imports from other countries of origin (ahem!).
On to the review. I'm a DIY type and have used these a couple times already. They have no teeth so you can grab fasteners without marring the surface. This is important for chrome fixtures, plastic fasteners and anything you wouldn't want chewed up. Much more useful than most adjustable wrenches because with those, that adjustment screw usually is pretty sloppy and can allow you to round off the fastener.
You may think that without teeth you won't get good gripping power but, the leverage you get from this design is amazing. The pressure you squeeze the handles with is multiplied to the jaws of the plier. I've seen on another forum where it was used to remove carburetor studs (threaded rods, usually with some sort of thread locker material).
One of my new favorite hand tools!

I decided to purchase these pliers after using a 7" pair. We are building an airplane and they do everything from holding a bolt to squeezing a hard to reach rivet. If you use tools on a regular basis the high price is easier to take.

I WORKED 24 YEARS IN AVIATION (FROM FIGHTERS IN THE AIR FORCE, TO GENERAL TYPE, AND ON TO COMMERCIAL WITH UNITED AIRLINES AS A LINE MECHANIC DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE DURING THAT TIME. WHEN I'VE PURCHASED TOOLS ESPECIALLY WITH UNITED, I BOUGHT SNAP-ON TOOLS ONLY.. WHERE I GOT MY FIRST FEW KNIPEX WERE THRU MY SNAP-ON DEALER WHO CAME ON THE FIELD... YES, SNAP-ON SELLS KNIPEX TOOLS TYPICALLY UNDER THEIR BLUE POINT, OR AS KNIPEX.. SNAP-ON TOOLS WOULD NEVER PUT TOOLS ON THEIR TRUCK THAT DIDN'T MATCH OR BEAT THEIR OWN.. SOOOOOO - I BOUGHT ONE OF THESE PLIERS AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BELIEVE THE NUMBER OF ODD THINGS THAT NO OTHER TOOL CAN DO.. THEY DON'T HAVE TEETH BUT IF YOU SQUEEZE ENOUGH IT MAKE YOU BELIEVE HOW MUCH FORCE THAT YOU DELIVER TO THE JAWS... VERY SIMILAR TO YOUR TYPICAL TWO JAW, FLAT FACES, HOWEVER AFTER YOU HAVE MADE YOUR FIRST OF LAST ADJUSTMENT WHAT IS SO SO UNIQUE IS THAT YOU OPEN THE JAWS SLIGHT TO THE NEXT FLAT ON THE NUT OR BOLT.. UNLIKE THE ORIGINAL PLIERS WHERE YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO PULL IT AWAY FROM THE BOLT OR NUT AND "FINE" ANOTHER FLAT- WHICH SOMETIME THIS TYPE OF WRENCH SLIPS OFF IF NOT ADJUSTED PROPERLY OR TOO TIGHT AND YOU FIND YOURSELF HAVING TO LOOSEN THE JAWS JUST TO SET UP FOR THE NEXT TURN ---THE KNIPEX CLEARLY ELIMINATES ALL OF THIS- COMPLETELY !!

Have you ever tried to use a regular adjustable wrench? You know - the kind with the little swirl under the jaws you try and try to rotate to get a good grip on a bolt - only to have the jaws loosen up just as you try to turn the bolt or nut? Or maybe try to use one on a bolt with rounded corners - only to discover that the tips of the adjustable wrench are not stable - and it slips and finishes rounding off what little bit of shape was left on the bolt head?
Well - HERE IS THE ANSWER!
These Knipex Plier Wrenches are the best thing since sliced bread, if you need an adjustable wrench THAT WORKS. They are GREAT! I have several of these in my personal tool box, and I absolutely LOVE THEM! If you need an adjustable wrench - GIVE A SET OF THESE A TRY. You will fall in love with them and wonder how you got along without them for so long!
This tool gets 5 stars - only because I can not give it 6! EXCELLENT!
