Size matters July 25, 2010 S. Butti (Colorado) The tool works fine for what it listed to do. I was able to cut 6" dead apple wood for my food smoker but it takes time. 2-4 in live stuff the tool works just fine. The manual oiler is the only - somewhat complaint. If would be better if when you pressed the button it pushed oil rather than holding the button for 3-4 seconds. That is what keeps this from getting the 5th star. I would buy this tool again however!
Cordless Chain Saw July 25, 2010 George D. Johnson (Houston, TX) I found this chain saw to be very good with small job pruning of trees and shrubs around the house. Also, it is very convenient to use with my interchangeable 18v battery that I have with all my other B&D Tools (hedgers & blower).
Pretty much what I expected July 6, 2010 Toledo Considering how much of a toy it felt and looked like pulling it out of the box, i was surprised and impressed with how quickly the 1st cut went through a solid but dead 10" maple tree I recently sectioned. Unfortunately half way through the 4th cut the battery was dead. At that point I was (and still am) a little disappointed with both the engineering and marketing of this tool. A chainsaw, by design, is for rough cutting relatively large diameter lumber quickly and efficiently. They advertise 150 cuts of 1 1/2" diameter wood per battery, but that obviously doesn't tell you a whole lot, and in retrospect, if you're looking to saw 1 1/2" limbs, you don't need a chainsaw. A good bow saw will make very short work of them, or if you have to have a battery powered tool, consider a reciprocating saw, as they will make more cuts, more precisely, cleaner (useful on live trees), and be useful for cutting other types of materials as well. Bottom line, this thing is light, cheap (in more ways than one), quiet, easy to use, and cuts reasonably well, but its battery life is way too short to be useful as a true chainsaw. If they tripled the battery capacity and made a 20 minute charger for it, it would be a useful tool, but as is, a gas powered, or corded version is necessary to get most true chainsaw type work done.
Great Product June 26, 2010 Dennis W. Potter (Wisconsin) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this saw an extra battery and the quick charger. After reading the reviews I figured this would just a trim saw, boy was I mistaken. This little brute has taken down and cut up at least 20 4 and five inch trees over the last 3 months. I've taken down a few 10 and eleven incher with some creative cutting. We had a storm last night and I had to deal with 6 downed trees that were in the 5 and 6 inch size. they were spread over a 10 acre area. It was pretty nice to only having to carry this little thing compared to a gas saw. Great buy.
cordless chain saw June 17, 2010 Wolfgang Liebmann (essex junction, Vermont) This chain saw is very much superior to the gasoline operated chain saws ( and the fuel etc. ), which I used to lug around my property. It is ideal for clearing trails and cutting low hanging branches. The thickest branch I was able to cut so far was about 8 inches thick. It helps to have a spare battery with you when you move too far from an electric recharging point.
