Fluke July 8, 2010 gm This fluke is not working out very good for me... it is not sensitive enough. When I put it into a couple older outlets I really have to push it in far to get an alert. I used to use my friends greenlee and it would lite up whenever you came near a hot line you didnt have to touch it directly. This fluke maybe for "professionals" and because of the reviews is why I bought it, but I miss the Greenlee...
A must have tool for your tool box June 16, 2010 Joseph Sudano (Dix Hills, NY United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered the Fluke 1AC-A1-II Volt-Alert AC Non-Contact Voltage Tester after an electrical circuit in my house died over the weekend. Resetting the circuit breaker did not help. I needed a tool to test each segment of the circuit until I could identify where the problem was. I received it today and within 15 minutes I was able to locate the problem in a junction box where one of the electrical connections loosened and caused the problem. I just tightened the connection and everything was back to normal.
The Fluke allowed me to quickly identify the problem area and resolve it.
I find the tool to be well made and work exactly as advertised. I highly recommend this tool for anyone who works with electricity as a must have tool for your tool box.
Not Bad June 1, 2010 MadScientist (MA) This is a useful tool but could benefit from an enhancement in sensitivity. You have to generally come very close to touching the wire for a second or more before the unit will respond. Be careful not to completely believe the test results or you could be shockingly surprised. The low sensitivity has the accidental benefit of determining the Hot and Neutral wires even when these wires are in rather close proximity. On the bright side, it is faster and easier to use than a VOM or DVM.
What is going on, or off May 17, 2010 me I for the most part like Fluke, they are the name to buy when you want a good tester. So that is why I bought the Fluke non-contact tester. But it goes off when it is in your hand, or you move it to much and so on. Than when I checked a ck it said it was off and I know it was on. Than I checked it again it said it was on. That was the end of that tester, I could never trust it again. I have found the greenlee tester to work the best, I trust it for the most part, I have been doing this for a long time, so it is always hot in my eyes.
AC Tester April 14, 2010 Samuel Gut Product is very convenient, and works well. The only drawback is that there is no sensitivity control.
