2 out of 5 stars Grizzly nailer doesn't come with lubricating oil   January 27, 2010
D. Guier (Washington DC)
I bought the Grizzly Nailer Model # H5527 on Amazon.com recently. It got good internet reviews at the low, low price of $29.95. When received the Nailer, I read through the written instructions first, which indicated in 2 places to lubricate with the "included" oil. When I went to use the Nailer, I found the little oil bottle in the carrying case did not have oil in it. I called the Grizzly hot line. I explained the situation, and pointed out the direct references in the instructions to the "included" oil. The technician asked me to wait while he conferred with staff. He came back on the line and said, notwithstanding Grizzly's own instruction manual, that Grizzly no longer provides oil with Model # H5527. If I wanted to purchase however, he said the cost for an 8 oz bottle was $1.95 + $7.95 shipping and handling. In other words, the oil, which by any reasonable measure should have been provided at the original purchase price, ended up costing me a third of the original purchase price. This kind of flew in the face of why I bought the Model # H5527 in the first place.

Typical made in China crap. Spent more time clearing jams than actually using it. Lesson learned.

I'm a professional carpenter and I use my brad nailer every day. My nailer of choice has been a DeWalt D51238. I've been using that nailer for about 3 years now. My DeWalt needed a new driver so I went to Amazon , found one and bought it. While I was looking for the driver, I ran across the Grizzly H5527 brad nailer. I probably would have passed it by but, when I noticed the price was $29.95, I just couldn't believe it. The specs showed all the features I need in a brad nailer so I bought it. Well, I got the driver for my DeWalt a few days later, put it in, and went back to work with the Dewalt good as new. A few days later I got the Grizzly and took it to the job to give it a try. I've been using it ever since. I can't believe this gun. There is very little kick back. In fact none that is noticable until you get up to the 2" brads(and that's in hard wood). That means I don't have to press hard to the wood and leave little "nose" prints all over my work. I've been using the gun hard now for about a month with all lengths of brads. It has not jambed once. In my opinion, the Grizzly is just a great little nailer.

Very inexpensive but sturdy tool for the hobbist or handy man. An item every homeowner should have.

I've never used a nail gun before, but read a few reviews about different products and was a little nervous about buying one. I must say I have had no problems with this product. I put up 50' of dog ear wood fence and not once did the gun not function properly. I haven't had any clogs and have probably used about 1000+ rounds of nails. Great product for money in my opinion.
